C5 extension project is one of the reason for Villar’s ouster - Roxas Nov 17, 2008 | Mich109 MANILA, Philippines – The C5 extension project mess this 2008 was said to be one of the factors that has led Senator Manuel “Manny” Villar to be ousted as the Senate President in a Monday afternoon according to Senator Manuel Roxas II.In a radio interview, Senator Roxas was asked if the C5 extension road mess could be one of the reasons for Senator Villar to be ousted, he said that it really is a part of it. Today, Senator Juan Ponce Enrile now replaced Senator Villar’s place as the Senate president. Senator Enrile was given 14 senatorial votes to have the place as the Senate president. Roaxas admitted that he is supports the new Senate leader. Senator Roxas said that he gives his full support to the new Senate leadership for a reason that he wants all the issues and scams to be cleared up once and for all. These messes include the fertilizer fund scam and the said C5 road project. The said fertilizer fund mess is about the P728-million budget allotted for the fertilizers that is to be distributed to the poor farmers. Instead, it was reported to have been transferred to the campaign fund of the current president, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, in the last 2004 elections. The alteration of the Senate leadership happened three days after the probe on the fertilizer fund mess was re-opened. This probe had Jocelyn “Joc-joc” Bolante, former Agriculture undersecretary, to testify for the first time. He said that they are positive that the unity of the Senate will soon be reestablished especially in protecting the Constitution against amendments.
