Senator Villar’s Case should be handled by the Ombudsman Oct 06, 2008 | Mich109 The issue has not yet been cleared up to say that Senator Manuel Villar Jr. was guilty but it will not prevent Senator Maria Ana Consuelo Jamby Madrigal from charging complaints with the ethics committee in account for the alleged conflict of interest relative to the road budget this year.According to Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, the case must be forwarded to the Ombudsman for further investigation citing into criminal proceedings. Senator Santiago also stated it was said in the Constitution that any public official should not take part on any financial interest thereby Senator Villar’s case, if that is the main controversy, should be forwarded to the Ombudsman for investigation. Developing PNPs Moral and Spiritual Virtues Oct 03, 2008 | Mich109 Manila, Philippines – It has been planned that PNP will be putting up centers for moral and spiritual trainings of the cops. This embarks that they will not be trained only by physical means but also as a whole. This notion has been said to be a part of the moral transformation program to have better PNP officers and enhance the trust of the public. This was stated by Director General Jesus Versoza who has just been awarded with a four-star rank last Friday. The PNP have been communicated that those kinds of program, like that of putting up recreation centers, should be given extreme priorities. Versoza said that it can be a good alternative for the cops from being penalized to just undergoing a retraining program. They would be undergoing moral and spiritual trainings and development to enhance the virtues that a cop must possess. There are already two cops from the Southern Luzon Police District that are subject to the proposed program. They were the cops who let the suspect be hit by the complainant and the other was the cop and allowed the press to publicize the face of the suspect, violating the policy of the new chief of PNP. They have been given orders to stay at National Capital Region Police headquarters in Taguig for the said program. Versoza also said that they will focus on developing the basic virtues of the PNP staff but he is requesting to the other government agencies to the same so as not to tempt them to imitate or adapt to those people they are around with. This aims moderately to reawaken a theme related to Chief Edgardo Aglipay where cops were also sent to be retrained for them not to be branded TABA an abbreviation for tamad (slothful), abusado (abusive), bastos (course) at ayaw padisiplina (fractious). |
