| Pimentel says that impeachment complaint will be void on Monday Nov 21, 2008 | Mich109 MANILA, Philippines – It was said by Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr. of the House Committee on Justice that the impeachment complaint that was filed against current President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has a high possibility to be junked when the hearings resume on Monday.In a radio report, it was said that Senator Pimentel thinks that the complaint has a high possibility to be dismissed and junked immediately even though the House leaders have assured that the case would be studied thoroughly. Senator Pimentel stated that Jose de Venecia III’s impeachment complaint was already “dead on arrival” when it has been filed. He said there are no substantial supporters to back up the impeachment complaint of de Venecia and his advocates. Senator Francis Escudero, stated on his opinion that there must first be a consideration on all documented evidences that supports the impeachment complaint before the House committee decides whether the case will be pursued or void. Matias Defensor Jr., Quezon City Representative and House Justice Committee announced that he is expecting the committee to vote whether the impeachment complaint is substantial or not by next Wednesday. The impeachment complaint has already been considered as “sufficient in form” on November 18 but will still have to be furthered studied. COMMENTS |
